Nietzsche

Reading on Nietzsche for the presentation made me realize how much him and McLuhan were philosophically on the same wavelength.  Aside the reference on page 146 of his book, McLuhan thematically connects with the ideas of Nietzsche on a much subtler scale. Both people are describing a paradigm shift in their respective societies. As a whole, people are becoming more and more aware of certain things due to exposure to information that, one could say, "educate" them. On page 22 McLuhan says "Politics offers yesterday's answers to today's questions". Here I can see him paying homage to the character, Zarathustra, in Nietzsche's classic Thus Spoke Zarathustra as he offered religious explanations to the "educated" society. Both can be described as un-evolving and stuck in the past. That relation made me think maybe McLuhan referenced Nietzsche more that we may have realized.
